Whether you call or email, you are in control. You can choose whether to share who you are. We will not know your phone number or email address unless you tell us.
We are an independent charity. We are separate from the Police, Social Services and other statutory bodies.
We are here for you.
Our Helpline & Email Support service can provide listening support and information, the services are available to all women and girls who have experienced sexual violence including those accessing our face-to-face services and people on the waiting list.
T: 0800 035 2794 or E: emailsupport@rctn.org.uk
Calls & emails are answered by a team of specially trained women volunteers.
You can talk about whatever you feel able to. Sometimes people talk about:
- How they are feeling
- How the sexual violence they have experienced is impacting their life now
- Challenges they are facing
These are just examples.
You can talk about what is right for you.
The Helpline & Email Support Service is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, From 6.00 pm until 8.30 pm
Our Helpline Team will answer calls and emails up to 15 minutes before closing time.
If you call and hear a recorded message, it will mean the service is closed or the team are on other calls. You are welcome to try calling back or you can leave a message with your phone number, and we will contact you when the Helpline is open.
We usually announce, on our Facebook and/or Instagram accounts, if we have to close the Helpline & Email Support Service for the evening.

How long do calls last?
We offer up to 50 minutes of listening support per Helpline Session. You don’t have to stay on the phone for the whole 50 minutes, but you can if that is what works for you.
Calls to the Helpline need to finish when the Helpline closes. This means, if you call when there is only 30 minutes left of the Helpline Session, you will be offered 30 minutes support.
Frequent Callers
A Frequent Caller is a someone who is calling the Helpline and Email Service more than twice a week, for a consistent period of a month or more.
Frequent Callers are offered 30 minutes of listening support per Helpline Session. This is so that we can offer support to as many women and girls as possible as well as continuing to be here for Frequent Callers.
