North East Charity Awards – Winners 2026

Winner - Outstanding Contribution to Societal Change

We are proud to announce that our Activist Volunteers won the award for Outstanding Contribution to Societal Change!

Last night we attended the North East Charity Awards. What a wonderful evening, celebrating just a tiny part of the innovative charity sector in our region.

The commitment, passion and skill of our volunteer team is matched only by their compassion and care.  Our activists work tirelessly to raise awareness of our services, challenge rape culture and offer solidarity to survivors of sexual violence.

We have no doubt that our Activist Volunteers deserve to have their work recognised, but to win in this category filled with such amazing finalists is an absolute honour.

Abby Traynor, CEO, Rape Crisis Tyneside and Northumberland:

“Absolutely over the moon about this, amazing recognition of our volunteers and a big well done to the other finalists.  Our volunteers give so much of their time, energy and commitment to Rape Crisis Tyneside and Northumberland.  We couldn’t do the work what we do without their dedication.”

North East Charity Awards Finalist 2026 - Trustee Board of the Year

We were also finalists in the category, Trustee Board of the Year to recognise the work they do throughout the year, guiding us and making sure those who need our services are at the centre of every decision we make.

North East Charity Awards Finalist 2026 - Trustee Board of the Year

For over a decade we’ve had a dedicated group of volunteers, whose aim is to raise awareness of our services and create campaigns to tackle sexual violence and the impact it has on women & girls.

From our Wish I Said and Breaking the Silence, Breaking the Barriers campaigns to braving the somewhat tumultuous British weather at community events, they are a group who are there to let anyone who needs us, know how to find us.

Having our Activists recognised for their work with the nomination for Outstanding Contribution to Social Change means so much and we couldn’t be happier.

Our Trustees support us throughout the year, guiding us and making sure those who need our services are at the centre of every decision we make. This year we welcomed a few newer faces to our board, and we couldn’t be prouder of the panel & their dedication to survivors of sexual violence.

Having our Board of Trustees recognised as a finalist for Trustee Board of the Year means so much, the contribution of Trustees is so vital, and they are often the unsung heroes of the charity sector.
