Practical and Emotional Support worker

Specialising in stabilising clients

Part time 8 hrs per week

Funded December 2021- December 2022

Salary:  £27,041, pro rata: £5,925 for 8 hours per week

NJC pt 22

Female applicants only: Schedule 9 (paragraph 1) of the Equality Act 2010 applies

This role will be providing practical and emotional support to women and girl survivors of sexual violence across Tyneside and Northumberland. Your base will be determined by the needs of client which can be in the regional office, outreach bases or working from home.

You will adopt the RCTN P&E model of ‘holistic advocacy’, where any client who has a support need such as mental health, physical health, accommodation, positive relationships, education, skills and employment, drugs and alcohol, finance and/or benefits, will be able to participate in strengths-based work to address their needs. You will engage in robust multi-agency working to enable clients to access other internal and external support services as necessary, ensuring that scarce local resources are being fully utilised and that clients benefit from more coordinated, comprehensive and sustainable services.

We require a woman with excellent planning and coordination skills and previous experience of providing support to clients with complex and compound needs.

Additionally you must have experience managing your own case load and providing support as an anti-oppressive frontline practitioner. Excellent record keeping on a case management system and previous experience advocating for clients rights are essential.

The work you do will sit within wider activity that takes place within the Practical and Emotional Support Service which includes Independent Sexual Advocacy services for anyone who identifies as a woman and girl who thinks the service is right for them. We work with the intersecting identities and experiences of women, from a range of protected characteristics and complex needs such as learning disabilities.

This post could be extended to 16 hours per week from April to December 2022

Deadline for applications is Friday 26th November 2021

Interviews will be held on Friday 3rd December 2021
