Sexual Violence Against Older Women
Project conclusion & ways forward
With Networking Event

Wednesday 4th March 2020

10am – 12noon

The Beacon, West Road, Newcastle upon Tyne

As the SVAOW project will conclude in March 2020, we would like to invite you to join us to hear how the project progressed and plans for the future.   This event will also feature our new short film featuring two case studies from our work with women who are aged 60+.  Dr Hannah Bows will also give a short talk followed by Q&A.

The project was designed to raise awareness that older women do experience sexual violence and it is under reported. Over the past year we have worked with statutory & third sector organisations and individuals throughout Tyneside & Northumberland and delivered a programme of training to professionals.

Rape Crisis Tyneside and Northumberland have been proud to host a Sexual Violence Against Older Women (SVAOW) Project, which commenced on 1st April 2019 and is funded by Comic Relief. The project is based on the work of Dr Hannah Bows from the Centre for Research into Violence & Abuse (CRiVA) at Durham University.
